Unraid is the second operating system I have utilized for my network-attached storage, the first being TrueNAS, which at the time was called FreeNAS. My Unraid instance has been operating with its current hardware for the past 2 years, which is the Supermicro M12SWA-TF motherboard and the powerful AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 3955WX. Although at the time of purchase, the hardware in my Unraid system were relatively optimal, over the years I have seen ways my hardware is falling behind.
Both Unraid and TrueNAS offer docker compatibility, which makes my Unraid instance crucial for implementing docker applications. However, the current upgrade trajectory for my Unraid instance is to offload the docker services to a Proxmox cluster, where Unraid will remain to host my protected data array.
